This is a high chair. I repeat: a high chair.
Looks familiar? Of course it is. You can see this type of chair in any TV drama or film in which a baby is featured, or in some mommy blogs too.
Perhaps, many of us have been using high chairs to seat the baby while eating in fast food restaurants like McD, KFC or Pizza Hut. And, may also use the colorful back strap plastic high chairs like this one too.
But, how many of you have or actually use a high chair at home? I bet not many.
Some of you think that high chairs are a waste of money and space. And, all of the little nooks and crannies end up with food stuck in them. It’s just something that you could do without.
Well, for me it depends.
When your baby is about 6 months old, it’s time to introduce semi-solid food. Meaning, you need to feed the baby ok?
But, how to feed a little angel that can’t sit unsupported? You can either hold the baby while feeding, or buy a Bumbo Baby Seater like this!
Once she can sit well, you can use the walker.
But, there will come a time when baby is too big for the walker, but not tall enough or disciplined enough to sit in a regular chair at the table.
So, it’s time to get a high chair. So, baby can join the family at the table during meal time.
Tips for new parents.
- Feeding a baby in Bumbo Baby Seater is better than in a walker. Because, you can easily wipe clean all the messes from the rubber seater. Cleaning a walker is much harder since the seater usually made of cloth.
- There are many choices of high chair in the market. From the expensive RM600 each to cheapest RM30 one. The best is to find one that can be easily clean (not made of cloth). I highly recommend Ikea Antelop High Chair – very cheap (RM49 only!) for a high quality brand.
- If you have little space, you can also replace a high chair with a booster seat. It takes up less room since it’s strapped onto one of your dining room chairs.
Beside feeding, Izzah also uses the high chair for watching her Brainy Baby and Baby IQ series.
